Kings Kirklands takeover opens routes

John King’s growing Nowra Coach Group has received yet another shot in the arm with the purchase of Kirklands Lismore

John King’s growing Nowra Coach Group has received yet another shot in the arm with the purchase of Kirklands Lismore to Brisbane express services.

The buyout comes hot on the heels of the recent purchase of Surf City Coaches on the Gold Coast in July 2007.

The Nowra Coach Group say they are going from strength to strength under King’s direction with his steady growth strategy.

Kirklands are presently operating three services per day Monday to Friday from Lismore to Brisbane and two services daily on Saturday and Sunday.

Services will remain the same, but the Kirklands brand name will be discarded and instead will operate under King’s flagship brand – Premier Motor Service.

Five star luxury coaches will be utilised on the route and the old Kirklands timetable will be integrated into the Premier Motor Service internet based booking system.

“Kirklands high standards over many years will be maintained but under the Premier banner, convenience, flexibility and five star comfort will mean a new era in coach travel for Lismore and district residents. Locals are already familiar with Premier Motor Service, so the transition from Kirklands to Premier on the Lismore to Brisbane run should be very smooth,” King says.

According to King, the acquisition will open up oncarriage to other destinations on the Premier’s extensive East Coast network. It could also open up other destinations yet unannounced which will be of benefit to Lismore, Ballina and district passengers.

Kirklands will still retain their local Lismore, Ballina and district bus network which remains unchanged. The takeover comes into effect from April 1, 2008.
